Hakusan Inc. to Showcase Next-Generation Optical Connector Products at OFC 2025

Hakusan Inc. exhibited for the first time at OFC 2025, which was held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from April 1st to 3rd, 2025. OFC is the most prestigious exhibition in the optical communications industry, and this year marks its 50th anniversary.

What is OFC?

OFC (Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition) is one of the world's largest exhibitions in the field of optical communication and network technology. This year, approximately 17,000 people from 83 countries participated. Researchers, engineers, and industry leaders gathered at technical conferences, workshops, and panel discussions to share the latest research results, product innovations, and technologies that will drive the future of the optical communication industry and data centers.

Purpose of the exhibit

Hakusan Inc., Ltd. aimed to exhibit next-generation multifiber optical connector technology and deepen exchanges with industry professionals through its OFC exhibit. We provided the latest technical information to all visitors through the exhibition of connector products related to NTT's IOWN, the next-generation optical network concept, and optical connector parts under development for optical mounting boards (Co-Packaged Optics).

The following products were exhibited at this exhibition:

• MT Ferrule (12/16/24/32/36/48F) / MPO Housing Kit (Push-Pull Boots/2.0mm Round Cable, etc.)
• MTCOMPACT series:
  Ultra-compact MT Ferrule. MTCOMPACT Slim is half the thickness of the standard product, MTCOMPACT Short is half the length of the standard product, and MTCOMPACT Slim & Short is 1/4 the size of the standard product.
• Small diameter MT Ferrule:
  MT Ferrule for 80µm thin fiber (fiber pitch: 250µm)
• Narrow-Pitch MT Ferrule (MTDS®):
  MT Ferrule with fiber pitch of 125µm/127µm using 80µm thin fiber (24-Fiber single row, 32-Fiber single row under development)
• MTCT Connector:
  Connector for mid-board connection. Features a design that allows reassembly after reflow. MT Ferrule use MTCOMPACT slim and short.
• Reflow-resistant MT Ferrule (MTHR):
  Made of highly heat-resistant material, it can withstand temperatures of 260°C for 10 minutes.
• Ceramic MT Ferrule (CMF®):
  Width, height and hole design can be customized.
• Magnetic Connector:
  Developed in collaboration with NTT Innovative Devices.

The atmosphere at the exhibition was very lively, with many visitors, including Hakusan 's booth. Among the products that attracted attention at the exhibition were the Ceramic MT Ferrule (CMF®) and the Reflow Resistant MT Ferrule (MTHR). These products are heat-resistant MT Ferrule that can withstand reflow and have attracted the interest of many people for CPO. They were also highly praised by industry insiders.

During the exhibition, there were many meetings with new and existing customers, and discussions were held for future business. There was a lot of reaction from the media and social media such as LinkedIn, and Hakusan 's technical capabilities and product superiority were widely recognized.

Future outlook

Based on the knowledge gained at OFC 2025, we will continue to innovate and are eager to make plans for the next exhibition. This year, we plan to exhibit at exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. Hakusan will strengthen its efforts in both technological innovation and market expansion as an important step toward becoming the world's number one share holder. This time was a great success, so we will also participate in next year's OFC (held in Los Angeles).
